Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes research experiments in the context of the laboratory’s overall research program.
  • Assists other laboratory staff and FTL on research projects and techniques.
  • Analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports and manuscripts.
  • Collaborates with industry/academia to apply the results of research.
  • Develops new techniques, products, practices, and new research protocols.
  • Develops and implementing QC procedures for testing purity, identity, integrity and stability of the bulk antigen proteins and clinical grade formulated vaccines in compliance with formal Standard Operating Procedure and Laboratory Protocols.
  • Identity and integrity on drug substance (DS), drug substance intermediate (DSI), drug product (DP), and drug product intermediate (DPI) using various techniques including but not limited to, Western Blot, SDS-PAGE, Capillary Gel Electrophoresis (CGE), Intrinsic Fluorescence, and SEC-MALS/UPLC-SEC.
  • Measuring protein content in vaccine formulation using a variety of techniques including but not limited to, ELISA, OPA (o-phthalaldehyde) assay, Modified Lowry Method, UV, and Bradford assays.
  • Developing CGE method for characterizing vaccine conjugates.
  • Developing capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) methods for characterizing vaccine conjugates and complexes.
  • Perform accelerated stability study on various bulk antigen proteins, lyophilized antigen proteins, and vaccine formulations.
  • Perform host cell protein assays.
  • Writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Laboratory Protocols, Laboratory Protocol Reports and creating Certificate of Analysis (CoA).
  • Organizes data collected in the laboratory into a format that can be used to publish data generated in the lab, contributes to manuscripts, slide presentations, and posters as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field with at least five (5) years of laboratory experience using a variety of instruments to characterize proteins, conjugated proteins, protein complexes, and vaccines used in human clinical studies.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience working in a Quality Control laboratory and performing protein characterization assays on vaccines.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations as it pertains to a Quality Control laboratory.
  • Background in a science related field.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite of software.

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and lab coat.
