Overview

We are seeking a Health Scientist to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States. Candidates will work at a prominent and vibrant CDC worksite in Atlanta, GA to obtain program operations, applied research support services for activities related to the Translation Branch (THEEB) mission. This position is a contingent position that is subject to a federal contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements studies to address key research questions related to program outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Has working knowledge of and expertise with various research designs and quantitative/qualitative methods.
  • Analyzes research findings and makes recommendations for next steps and future research. Searches, synthesizes, and interprets information relevant to public health.
  • Reviews and analyzes studies assessing public health issues in order to make recommendations.
  • Typical assignments require developing detailed plans, goals, and objectives for implementing projects and developing criteria for evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Identifies best practices and advises organizational leadership on how they could be adopted in various settings.
  • Identifies and analyzes issues, problems, and challenges facing the program; formulates and evaluates possible courses of action for resolving them; draws conclusions based on relevant facts; and recommends solutions to organizational leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in behavioral science, epidemiology, program evaluation, social science, or other public health-related field (for Health Scientist III) plus 4 years of relevant experience (for Health Scientist IV).
