Responsibilities

  • Conduct and participate in analytical development projects that are scientifically demanding within the fields of HIV, Malaria, Ebola, and mRNA vaccines and biologics development.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new immunoassay analytical technologies to enhance the analytical development group’s capabilities for product release and characterization.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new process residual analytical technologies to enhance the group’s capabilities. Develop key process residuals assays for HCP and HCD for monitoring and ensuring vaccine and monoclonal antibody quality for IND submissions.
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results. Demonstrate scientific rigor in assessing own data and that of others.
  • Independently plan, design, and execute projects in vaccine product development utilizing good scientific judgment and responsibility for meeting project goals within time and budget constraints.
  • Develop research findings to make recommendations for experiment design to task leader, and effectively present at internal meetings.
  • Make recommendations on outside technologies for lab to pursue.
  • Perform ELISA, Octet and other immuno analysis support.
  • Contribute to one or more peer-reviewed scientific publications.
  • Apply an advanced working knowledge of related scientific disciplines to solve project and product problems.
  • Anticipate and resolve project priority /or work arrangement conflicts.
  • Support monoclonal antibody, bi-specific antibody and multi-specific antibody projects.
  • Support subunit vaccine content and potency analysis.
  • Support mRNA vaccine testing and method development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Position requirements include 10+ years of experience with a BS or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.  
  • Experience with vaccine testing and method development.
  • Knowledge within the fields of HIV, Malaria, Ebola, and mRNA vaccines and biologics development.

  • Ability to work closely with others, work on ladders or scaffolding, and work with hands in water.
  • Will be required to be in contact with lasers (open or closed) in instrument.
  • Will work with corrosive substances, inorganic dust and powders, heavy metals, plastics, solvents, and sensitizing agents.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, face shields/goggles, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, and disposable dust/surgical mask.
