Responsibilities

  • Culture patient-derived primary cells and develop 3D tissue organ models derived from these cells for the study of papillomavirus infection. Process resulting tissues and cells for histology and pathology.
  • Perform confocal microscopy, including combined immunofluorescence, RNA and DNA fluorescent in situ hybridization and live cell imaging techniques.
  • Collect and organize data, perform data analysis, and prepare technical reports.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments.
  • Perform, operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MD or PhD in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience in culture of patient-derived primary human keratinocytes and derived tissues as well as processing for histology and pathology.
  • Experience and knowledge in confocal microscopy and related in situ techniques, particularly related to chromatin biology, the DNA damage response, DNA replication and transcription.
  • Effective communication skills working in a team atmosphere.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours when experimental needs require it.

  • Ability to lift or carry less than 25 pounds, push or pull less than 25 pounds, reach above shoulder level, and use both hands.

  • Ability to work alone and closely with others, and work protracted or irregular hours.
  • Will have contact with cass 3B lasers (open or closed).
  • Will work with aerosols, corrosive substances, inorganic dust and powders, and with plastics and solvents.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, face shields/goggles, safety glasses, lab coat, and disposable dust/surgical mask.
