Title: Sr. Private Sector Advisor, Health Products

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is at the forefront of the U.S. Government (USG) response in the fight against HIV/AIDS. USAID is a key partner in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and works closely with other USG agencies on this multi-billion dollar initiative in developing countries around the world.
The Office of HIV/AIDS (OHA) is the center of HIV/AIDS technical leadership for the Agency with primary responsibility for the Agency’s HIV/AIDS program. OHA provides strategic direction, technical leadership, and support to field programs in HIV/AIDS. It provides input to decisions concerning the strategic allocation of financial and human resources in the sector and assists in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs.
The Systems and Program Sustainability Division (GH/OHA/SPS) provides technical leadership and strategic direction on issues related to systems strengthening and financing of HIV/AIDS programs. Under the SPS Division, the Capacity Building and Partnerships Branch (GH/OHA/SPS/CBP) coordinates with related USAID offices and the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator at the State Department (OGAC) in support of Missions and United States Government (USG) teams in their efforts related to sustainability, local partner transitions, civil society and public-private partnerships.
The Senior Private Sector Advisor, Health Products (Advisor) will serve as a member of the Capacity Building and Partnerships Branch of the Systems and Program Sustainability Division of the Office of HIV/AIDS (OHA) in the Bureau for Global Health, and work as an integral part of OHA’s cross- office program team. The Advisor will work collaboratively to address HIV/health product access and availability issues within and between technical teams and interest groups within OHA and in the Bureau for Global Health (GH). Key counterparts include OHA’s Prevention, Care and Treatment teams, the Commodities Security and Logistics (CSL) Division of the Office of Population and Reproductive Health (PRH), and OHA’s Supply Chain Management Team. S/he will also liaise with the Office of The Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) of the US Department of State and the relevant PEPFAR interagency Technical Working Groups. The Advisor will receive day to day guidance from the Capacity Building and Partnerships Branch Chief.
The Advisor serves as a technical lead for private sector approaches as related to HIV prevention, care and treatment programming. S/he will support the development and integration of strategic product marketing activities aimed at increasing access and availability through private-sector outlets, such as pharmacies and drug stores, while leveraging commercial techniques to increase uptake and use of health products in support of HIV programming objectives.
