The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has contracted through Social Solutions International partnered with CAMRIS International, to recruit and hire qualified individuals for the following position:

Title: Program Assistant

Salary Range: $45,972-59,762.00 (GS-7 equivalent)

The Program Assistant provides support to the Division Chief and technical staff within the Budget and Operations Division, with some assistance to, and much collaboration with the Front Office in OHA. The assistant performs a variety of both complex and routine administrative and analytical duties. These duties range from administrative-type tasks such as scheduling briefings and meetings, as well as maintaining program files, to more complex analytical-type tasks such as collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for various operations and program documents and designing and maintaining spreadsheets in support of financial tracking systems.  The Program Assistant ranks tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, and handles several tasks simultaneously.  The individual must develop a working knowledge of USAID, GH, and OHA policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures.

  • Assists technical staff in the preparation of various program documents and correspondence such as action memos, and waivers, ensuring that all documentation is complete and in compliance with USAID rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Works with BOD and FO staff on general staffing, space, travel, and other management-related activities.
  • Assist the BOD Division Chief with budget, staffing, and operational matters, as well as the ensuing strategy for the office.
  • Maintains/or provides assistance with administrative and financial tracking systems, and assists in the design and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases to support these systems for the Budget Branch.
  • Assists in creating and facilitating Budget workshops and Webinars at headquarters and missions. This includes occasional travel to support the Budget Branch and the BOD Division Chief for trainings and meetings.
  • Researches, plans, analyzes, and organizes technical and/or statistical information and develops data for use in briefings, publications, and reports. Recommends statistical formats for reports, ensuring consistency with USAID standards.
  • Drafts program communications such as cables, memoranda, and letters that seek approval or request information relative to program matters.
  • Collects and compiles data for use in regular and ad hoc reporting on the status of programs from various sources such as cooperating agency reports, USAID reports and documents, and technical staff. Ensures that schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Assists in cyclical events, drills, and formulations such as the Headquarters Operational Plan, Country Operational Plan, and various portfolio reviews for OGAC and the GH Front Offices.
  • Collects and makes arrangements for distribution of material to the USAID missions, USAID/W offices, host country institutions, and cooperating agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Associate’s degree in related field and 2+ years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheet skill and Powerpoint.
  • Proficiency in the use of Gmail and Google applications necessary.  
  • Candidate must have great interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and be able to meet multiple deadlines.

  • US citizenship or US permanent residency required.


Post-secondary oral and written communications skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.




Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to reports and financial tracking systems. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
