CAMRIS seeks a Laboratory Manager for an upcoming contract with the Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU – SA). NAMRU – SA is a major research and development center conducting medical, dental, and directed energy biomedical research, which focuses on ways to enhance the health, safety, performance, and operational readiness of Navy and Marine Corps personnel and addresses their emergent medical problems in routine and combat operations.

 

The purpose of this contract is to provide support to NAMRU-SA and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of the following research areas: expeditionary and trauma medicine, cellular and immune based adjuncts for casualty care, directed energy and bioeffects, systems engineering and evaluation, epidemiology and biostatistics, environmental surveillance and biomaterials, and maxillofacial injury and disease in consonance with the mission of the Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine and Craniofacial Health and Restorative Medicine directorates at the NAMRU-SA.

 

Note: The position is contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Provides research related recommendations and support to principle investigators.
  • Oversees day-to-day laboratory operations pertaining to sample analyses and equipment maintenance.
  • Trains technicians to use equipment and properly maintain training files.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Provides recommended changes to protocols and Standard Operating Procedures to include Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Provides additional functions incidental to research activities.
  • Plans animal research work activities between Research Scientist, animal care staff, and research technicians and ensure there is adequate equipment to support all projects.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree plus five years’ experience or a master’s degree.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Previous experience with the U.S. military is highly preferred.
