The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has contracted through ZemiTek partnered with CAMRIS International, to recruit and hire a qualified individual for the following position:


Title:  Writing Coach/Editor

United States Agency for International Development/Africa Bureau/Sustainability and Development/Economic Growth, Environment, and Agriculture (EGEA)

The Economic Growth, Environment, and Agriculture EGEA) team is part of the Bureau for Africa’s Office of Sustainable Development (AFR/SD). The EGEA team provides analysis, develops policy and supports USAID’s agriculture and food security programming in the Africa region. The team works closely with the Bureau for Food Security (BFS) which has the mandate for overall implementation of the United States Government’s Feed the Future/Global Food Security programs. The team also coordinates with USAID field missions, regional organizations, private sector, civil society, multilateral institutions and other partners. The team’s responsibilities include providing technical support to field missions in agriculture and food security strategy, design and programming.



  • Strengthen staff ability to create clear and concise documentation
  • Curate new and existing content 
  • Teach staff to organize and prioritize content to meet audience needs
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy
  • Coach staff to adjust efforts appropriately, according to the project goals and schedule constraint
  • Review existing documentation and provide feedback to document owners in coaching sessions


  • Provide individual coaching sessions for writing and designing documents
  • Conduct "Writing For Impact" workshop for teams in person or via video conference
  • Create templates for standard documents on request
  • Edit and format documents on request
  • Develop strategies with appropriate team members for effective presentations
  • Respond to requests for assistance in 48 hoursor less
  • Attend meetings to contribute to discussions about communication strategies


  • The period of performance shall be 100.



  • A masters degree with 10 years of professional experience or a bachelors degree with 12 years of professional experience
  • A minimum of 5 years proving excellent writing, editing, reporting, research, analytical and organizational skills with exceptional thoroughness, attention to detail, and systematic writing process.
  • Strong time management skills—the ability to balance high-quality work standards against time constraints
  • High-energy, positive, and flexible team player who collaborates well to achieve consensus and delivery results.
  • Strong knowledge and skills of editing and writing tools and practices
  • Ability to plan, organize, and use time effectively; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines;
  • Ability to take initiative working with the direction of management; must be able to take ownership of projects, creatively solve problems, and see projects through to completion;
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance
