CAMRIS seeks an Epidemiologist to support the Naval Medical Research Unit - San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) in San Antonio, Texas.


Epidemiologist demonstrates experience/proficiency in the following:

  1. Study design, data management, and statistical analysis for new and ongoing observational and experimental studies.
  2. Database design and management and statistical analyses for clinical and health services research studies.
  3. Creation and maintenance of multi-year and multi-site datasets.
  4. Strong working knowledge of descriptive statistics and multivariable modeling (e.g., linear, logistic, ordinal). Experience with advanced statistical methods (e.g., survival analysis, generalized estimating questions, structural equation modeling) is preferred.
  5. Working on a multidisciplinary team (e.g., with physicians, dentists, veterinarians, biologists) on completion of primary and secondary analyses of datasets.
  6. Drafting Methods and Results sections for manuscripts.
  7. Grant application writing (e.g., power calculations, statistical analysis section).
  8. Planning and execution of complex studies. Adapting methods to problems at hand and interpret findings in terms of their scientific significance.
  9. Collaboration with PI, Coordinating Center Staff, and site PIs in performance of the above duties.  

Project:  Field-Grade Dental Treatment Kit Development Based on Dental Emergencies among Deployed U.S. Military Personnel



  • PhD in Epidemiology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), SPSS, SAS, Access, and Epi Info preferred.
  • Experience with the U.S. military is highly preferred.
