The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has contracted through Social Solutions International partnered with CAMRIS International, to recruit and hire qualified individuals for the following position:


United States Agency for International Development, Bureau for Global Health, Front Office (USAID/GH/AA)

Title: Program Assistant

The Program Assistant provides support to the Bureau for Global Health’s Front Office and multiple technical offices under the direction of the Senior Policy Advisor. The Program Assistant will perform a variety of both complex and routine administrative and analytical duties. These duties range from administrative tasks such as scheduling briefings and meetings and maintaining program files, to more complex analytical tasks such as collecting, compiling, and analyzing data related to various USG and Agency policies, including Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA). The Program Assistant will work as a member of the Global Health Bureau’s team handling policy requirements, and liaise with multiple offices within the Global Health Bureau (the Office of Health Systems, Infectious Diseases, and Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition), the Office of General Counsel and Regional Bureaus. The Program Assistant prioritizes tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, handles several tasks simultaneously, works in multiple teams, and seeks guidance when needed. The individual must develop a working knowledge of USAID policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures. The individual is expected to become familiar with global health technical issues and policies.



  • Supports efforts of USAID/Washington and its overseas Missions and implementing partners to strengthen capacity to monitor for compliance with U.S. legislative and policy restrictions related to abortion within USAID programs through document review, and ongoing technical assistance.
  • Supports development of responses to external and internal requests for information on the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance policy, including Freedom of Information Act requests.
  • Coordinates and liaises with colleagues in the Global Health Bureau, Office of General Counsel, and Regional Bureaus.
  • Supports the Global Health Bureau's policy team and members of office management with policy analysis, knowledge management, and administrative duties.
  • Participates in relevant policy meetings and calls to the field.


  • Schedules regular and ad hoc meetings, including reserving conference rooms or other appropriate facilities, preparing agendas, notifying participants, setting up equipment and assembling background and informational materials.
  • Prepares correspondence, report components, and other policy-related documents; and provides support in coordinating finalization and clearance of these policy-related documents.
  • Maintains necessary files, both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Collects and makes arrangements for distribution of material to the USAID missions, USAID/W offices, host country institutions, and cooperating agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of professional experience.
  • Attention to detail and skills in multi-tasking, working under time pressures, and working well in teams as well as independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential, including the ability to effectively organize and present information, and respond to questions from managers, leadership, external partners, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in the use of Google applications and Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Candidates should have experience and/or interest in international development; global health programming; or health policy.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must have the ability to obtain and maintain, at a minimum, a Facilities Access clearance (Secret clearance preferred).
