The upcoming phase of FEWS NET 7 will rely on close collaboration with international, regional, and national partners on food security analysis and reinforcement of food security networks. Major activities include joint monitoring and assessments, data exchanges, collaborative analysis and report writing, and training. FEWS NET 7 supports local and regional food security networks to contribute to achieving the global objective of food security for all.

 

To supports its monitoring activities, FEWS NET 7 recruiting for food security monitors to collect information from partners, primary information during field visits when necessary, and to strengthen FEWS NET’s relationships with partners.

Responsibilities

  • Collect relevant food security information from
  • Maintain strong relationship with partners (i.e. WFP, FAO, Ministry of Agriculture ).
  • Participate in information sharing
  • Be in regular contact with the Regional
  • When necessary, travel to areas of concern to collect
  • Deliver information on current and expected food security conditions and assist with classification of current and expected food security outcomes, alerts and special reports (as needed) to East Regional Offices.
  • Supervising cross-border data collection by cross-border monitors.
  • Participate in IPC analysis based on monitor availability and as required.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in a discipline relevant to the work of FEWS NET, such as agricultural economics, agronomy, nutrition, climatology, anthropology or social
  • At least five years of relevant experience in early warning/food security information systems, food security analysis, as well as other related
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication and writing
  • Excellent computer skills. GIS applications and mapping skills an
