CAMRIS is currently seeking a Deputy Program Manager for the anticipated Sustaining Technical and Analytic Resources (STAR) cooperative agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development. The goal of the STAR program is to improve the effectiveness of global health programs worldwide by developing and strengthening the capacity of global health professionals. The primary focus of the STAR program is strengthen the technical and analytic professional cadre of human resources for global health by partnering with organizations of higher learning, development, and/or health professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resource management and oversight of the project.
  • In the absence of the Program Director, assume full responsibility of the project.
  • Work to advance the Bureau of Global Health’s core objectives and mandates and to further USAID’s development and policy objectives throughout the world.
  • Liaise with USAID, academic institutions, host-country governments, and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to fellows and interns.
  • Develop, review, and revise work plans.
  • Ensure the timely submission of deliverables to USAID.
  • Establish appropriate mechanisms to ensure that activity progress and specific implementation concerns are regularly and promptly reported and addressed.
  • Support and facilitate capacity building initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum seven years of experience providing program operational support and management services.
  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field.
  • Experience with management and administration of donor-supported health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in international human resource management and in addressing the challenges of human resource management.
  • Experience in supporting program implementation and research related to public health programs in developing countries.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of institutions that provide technical leadership and direction for public health programs, including academic institutions, host- country governments, US government, and/or program implementers.
  • Broad management expertise and experience in setting up administrative and financial systems.
  • An ability to and interest in mentoring individuals from developing countries to strengthen their technical capacity and support their professional development goals.
  • Well-versed in USAID regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong cross-cultural and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
