Title: Senior Household Economic Strengthening Advisor

The U.S. Government’s (USG) engagement to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS is a top priority worldwide. The USG response includes coordination among USAID, the Centers for Disease Control, Department of Defense, Peace Corps, and other entities. This initiative is collectively known as the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). USAID has been at the forefront of the USG’s response to provide quality HIV/AIDS services to over one hundred countries to mitigate the health crisis that threatens the prosperity, stability and development of these nations. Economic strengthening of highly vulnerable households and individuals plays a key role in the PEPFAR program by enabling youth and adults infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to pursue healthier, more economically secure livelihoods and to better meet the everyday needs of orphans and vulnerable children.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Household Economic Strengthening Advisor (Advisor) position presents an opportunity for an experienced economic strengthening and social protection specialist, skilled in working across multiple constituencies, to provide key leadership in the development and implementation of economic strengthening/social protection strategies and frameworks for vulnerable populations, including people living with HIV/AIDS, adolescent girls and young women, older orphans and vulnerable children and their caregivers. The key objectives of the assistance are to develop economic and social protection strategies to improve food security, increase livelihoods and encourage household savings that result in long term gains for health and well-being and reduction of risk.
The Senior Advisor will:
Advance technical leadership
Develop internal and external capacity
Build partnerships across sectors
Represent USAID and PEPFAR at relevant fora
Provide briefings on HIV and household economic strengthening/social protection programs including emerging issues and technical innovations to a range of audiences, including USAID and PEPFAR staff, and inter-age
