Our core practice areas include public health, agriculture and food security, economic development, education, environment, humanitarian assistance, democracy and governance, and medical research. Cross cutting service areas include capacity building, institutional support, and monitoring and evaluation. 


CAMRIS is looking for a range of international development experts for potential short and long term assignments on various programs, ranging from health, environment and democracy and governance subject matter experts to program managers to experienced short term team leaders. Engagement will likely be on a contract basis.


Specific skill sets we are looking for include:

  • Financial expertise – including fund & grant management, audit & due diligence, services for SMEs and financial sector development programs, and mobilizing public and private sector finance to help achieve project goals.
  • Capacity building expertise – with governments and civil society organizations (CSOs), demonstrating effective transfer of skills.
  • Monitoring & evaluation expertise– both generalists and specific to areas such as gender, public health, climate change, and democracy and governance.
  • Public health specialists- both generalists and experts specific to the area of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health; WASH, Malaria, Ebola, Health Financing.
  • Climate change expertise – particularly design and implementation of programs to build climate resilience, green economy strategies, low carbon development, and related skills.
  • Conflict prevention & resolution – as well as experience in above areas, within fragile and conflict affected environments.
  • International experience – including Africa, specifically, and the developing world more generally.
  • Program and project implementation:  Experience designing and implementing governance and accountability programs.


  • The proposed Subject Matter Experts must have a minimum of 10 years of experience of practical experience in a senior line or advisory position; and have a minimum of five years of relevant experience of working with one or more donors (e.g.: USAID, DFID, World Bank, GIZ, CIDA).
  • S/he must have at a minimum a Master’s Degree in economics, finance, accounting, or a related advanced degree relevant to the field of public health or business or public administration, democracy and governance, environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, maintain effective and cooperative relations with national authorities as well as donors, and handle sensitive issues with discretion in a multicultural environment.
